Welcome To Robert Handler Art

Robert Handler is a self-taught artist, raised in Manhattan until age 18, college at Syracuse, then law school in Baltimore, where he lived until 2021, when he moved to San Diego. Although he didn’t start painting in earnest until his 50s, Robert is making up for lost time, painting in his backyard art studio, serenaded by Bob Dylan, New Wave bluegrass and Doo-Wop, and, when he's feeling off, Leonard Cohen.

What is interesting in Robert handler Art?

Surrounding Robert in the studio are acrylic paints, mixed-media materials and large Masonite wood pieces, the main ingredients in his 3D/raised-relief architectural artworks.

Though his former art studio in Maryland looked out onto his evergreen tree-lined backyard, often frequented by deer, Robert, at least in his mind, was still in New York, painstakingly painting the dozens of miniature skyscraper window frames, arches, friezes, water towers, and other finely detailed architectural nuggets.

Since moving to San Diego in late 2021, Robert has expanded his style into abstract, seascapes and other natural landscapes.
