Grandma’s Tel Aviv Balcony

Originally titled, “Safta’s Meerpeset,” Hebrew for “Grandmother’s Balcony”, this painting is inspired by Robert Handler’s late mother-in-law, who lived in a working-class suburb of Tel Aviv. Here, she is painted as if fixed in an early-morning, meditative stillness.
