Westside Looking Towards the Hudson
The largest and most complex of Robert Handler’s works, this project depicts how the West Side has been built up almost to the Hudson. Both sides of the river, New Jersey’s included, contain architectural marvels. This painting shows New Jersey in the background and Manhattan in the fore; it’s a nighttime view looking west towards the river. The moon’s reflection off the buildings illuminates these architectural gems. The original is comprised of multi-layered buildings, 12-deep, with a perspective of diminishing viewpoint.
